A historical place in India which is now under World Heritage for its historical significanceHampi is situated on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in the eastern part of central Karnataka near the state border with Andhra Pradesh. It is 376 kilometres (234 mi) from Bangalore, 385 kilometres (239 mi) from Hyderabad and 266 kilometres (165 mi) from Belgaum.
Hampi is perhaps one of the most exciting archaeological finding after Harappa -Mohenjodaro in Indian History. Its encouraging to note out of 26 sq km only a part of the entire Vijayanagar Kingdom has been unearthed/ excavated till date.
